So I am sure you are aware that organic produce is much more beneficial for your health and the environment and that pesticides should be avoided, right? Right. So what do you do if your budget is very tight, money is very limited and you are too busy to grow your own organic fruit and veggies? You focus on the Dirty Dozen and the Clean Fifteen. “But what is this?!” I hear you cry. Well this is a list produced every year by the EWG in the US, and it details the foods which test up with the most chemical and pesticide residues and the foods which test up with the least, so it basically guides you on where to invest your shopping dollars so that you and your family are being exposed to the least chemical residue. And (drumroll please) this years list has just been announced and can you guess again who takes the crown of the number one fruit or veggie to have the most chemical pesticides when tested? Yep the humble and delicious strawberry! So if you are having to decide which foods to invest in as organic and which you can more safely buy regular produce of, take a look at this list.

The Clean 15 for this year ( so testing with less pesticide residue) are
Avocados
Sweet corn
Pineapples
Cabbage
Sweet peas
Onions
Asparagus
Mangoes
Papayas
Kiwi
Eggplant
Honeydew Melon
Grapefruit
Cantaloupe
Cauliflower
The Dirty Dozen for this year are
Strawberries
Apples
Nectarines
Peaches
Celery
Grapes
Cherries
Spinach
Tomatoes
Sweet bell peppers
Cherry tomatoes
Cucumbers.
